Natchitoches Weekend

This weekend Josh and I made the long drive to Natchitoches, LA to visit his grandparents and aunt. For those who don't know, that's where Josh grew up. That's why it's weird to realize we hadn't been there in about two and a half years. Now that his mom lives in Florida, we just don't find ourselves making it up there. (Did I mention the long drive??)

We left Thursday when J got off work an got in right before midnight. We spent Friday morning at his grandparents' house just sitting around and talking. That afternoon Josh and I went and walked downtown and visited all of the adorable shops. For those who have never been to Natchitoches, you should go!! It's such a precious city. (It's where Steel Magnolias was filmed... go watch that and you can see how cute it is). The evening was filled with a meat pie dinner (yes Dad... dinner, not dessert), and more good conversation. This morning we got to see Josh's dad for about 30 minutes, (they had just driven in), before we started on the drive home.

We took a small detour to stop in Aggieland. We picked up Blue Baker and took it to campus to eat before walking around a bit. We took the obligatory Sul Ross statue picture (where we met), visited some of our most memorable buildings, and the went to the newly remodeled MSC. That's where we finally got yelled at for having Lilly. Therefore we had to tour the new building in shifts. It still has some of the old features (flag room, wood carving depictions of the history of the university), but there's a lot that's VERY different! And since we were doing it in shifts we didn't get to explore as in-depth as we would have.

All in all, it was a good weekend. Too much driving for my tastes, but good family time :)
