This month started with more visits from family. We got another dose of Nana and Blake (before he headed back to Canada) with a bonus of my Aunt Marsha and cousin Melissa.
We also celebrated my birthday and dnow with our youth group. Mostly, however, the month simply consisted of getting back into a normal routine. We go to the store, run errands, have play dates, do things at church, etc. It's just like life before, just with two car seats and more crying from the backseat. (Why do my children hate the car so much??)
Samantha:
-This month she really started putting words together and making mini sentences.
-Her hair FINALLY got long enough for pony tails and pig tails. She even keeps them in for a few hours!
-She has started praying independently. She will usually say something along the lines of, "Jesus- daddy, mommy, Kassie, (insert other family members or toys here) amen." It's precious!
-S transitioned to a booster chair at our table this month. Hopefully doing this a few months before K is in need of the high chair will keep S from feeling territorial of it.
Kassidy:
Clearly there were more changes in her last month than in her sister's.
-She started reflux medicine number two and finally became a happy baby!
-Along with being happy came those first wonderful smiles and her playful chatter.
-She finally got kicked out of our room and sent to her own room at night. Samantha only got 3 weeks with us, so 7 weeks was a big improvment! It's wonderful being able to actually have a bedtime routine for her and then have some relaxing time alone with J at night. It makes life feel a bit more normal again.
-She developed some baby acne this month. S got it early on so I thought we might be lucking out and not dealing with it for K. But sure enough, it showed up at six weeks. It hasn't been as bad as Samantha's and appears to be fading already.
-Another not-so-pleasant side effect of growing older is her ability to grab and pull my hair. Here's your latest fashion forecast: buns and ponytails are on the horizon for spring!
-Kassidy had her first little cold this month. It was really heartbreaking listening to her wheeze. Luckily it only lasted a few days. Her big sister was not as lucky :(
-We have finally settled into a bath routine with her. That first month she was probably a stinky baby because she only got baths about once or twice a week. You know you're a second child when… But she definitely LOVES her bath time!
-Her sleeping is still sporadic, but it's starting to get more consistent at night, usually with only one wake-up. She's a much better napper than S ever was! Though that may be due to the fact that she doesn't really get a chance to have a quality morning nap like S always did. We are a lot more on-the-go, so she's probably just worn out by the time
I put her down.
