This morning I hosted a Busy Bag Swap at my house. It's something I've heard about before and always wanted to do. Busy bags are bags filled with some form of entertainment to keep little hands occupied when in the car, while momma's cooking, while nursing another child, etc. When doing a swap, you only have to make one type of bag and yet you leave with multiple!
There were seven mommas who participated. Therefore, we each made seven of the same bag (which saves on cost and effort) and left with seven different bags for our littles. I know some people do these swaps and assemble them at the gathering, but we brought them premade and just had a big play date and grabbed the bags when leaving. It was a lot of fun!!
Now for the bags...
I Spy bottle- a bottle filled with random trinkets for the kids to find. It also makes a great maraca for the younger ones.
Threadable felt squares. So easy to make and yet so fun!
Counting bag- place the Pom Poms on the caterpillars to practice counting and one to one correspondence. These are laminated so they could also be great to use with a dry erase marker.
Water bottle stuff it- a water bottle filled with different colored straws and sticks. My child LOVES to put things in and out of containers, so I know this will be fun for her. You can also practice colors and counting with it. Or again... maraca!
Pipe cleaners and beads to thread. Again, simple yet fun!
Paint chip color matching- match the clothespins to the paint chip. The backsides also have numbers to match. With the labels, it's also teaching early reading.
Picture matching- these cards are basic puzzles for little ones. They can practice matching with the two parts. For the older ones, they could be used for Memory. Also, anytime a card is laminated, it could be used to draw on with dry erase markers!
All in all it was a fun morning with friends and also like Christmas at the same time!!
