I don't know about you, but this Christmas season seemed to last much longer than it normally does. For a Christmas addict like myself; however, that's just fine. I will say that by the time Christmas actually rolled around, it didn't feel like it anymore. Between all the Christmas parties, white elephant exchanges, holiday baking, and advent activities, it was a very busy month! And then poor J has his birthday crammed right in the middle of it all. I still try to make his day all about him and not the holidays, though.
Since we trade off each year, this year was a Langston Christmas (J's side), which meant traveling to Florida. Sadly, we decided not to bring Lilly this year since she can be hard in the car and traveling that far while 6 months pregnant is hard enough as is. (Which was soo sad on christmas morning without her). But on the plus side, that meant we got to see my mom, dad, and Blake and do a mini Christmas with them to hand Lilly off. We had a few hours to do presents and lunch.
The next day we began the drive to FL. My doc recommended we not try to do the whole drive in one day, so we stopped in Baton Rouge for the night and just had a fun night being silly in Wal Mart and lounging in our hotel.
The next day we finally got to the fam. This year it was Laura (LaLa), Gary (Papa G), J's grandparents, his two aunts, uncle, cousin, and one of Gary's sons. (One of these days, we WILL celebrate a Christmas with his sister...hopefully!!) We went to the beach one evening to have our "white Christmas" on the white sand, which is tradition in their home. Again, it was sad without Lilly who LOVES the beach!! His family threw us a mini baby shower with yummy cake, presents, and a diaper cake. It was so sweet! And then we did a gift exchange with the family so we didn't have to buy presents for each person there. J ended up with a you helicopter and I got a Starbucks gift card. Christmas afternoon we went to the movies and saw Django Unchained, which was GREAT!!! And of course, no holiday would be complete without LOTS of delicious food. Samantha probably gained a pound this week!
Now begins the long journey home. As great as family time is, it's always nice to be back in my own home in my own bed.
I hope you all had a very merry Christmas of your own and that we all continue to remember the importance of Christmas all year long.
